Community Outreach Merit Program

上星期六(7/11)，COMP 的 會員Gillian 和 Timmy 跟寧波公學「社企達人」團隊一起參與「叻Net老師」前期訓練課程。是次活動Gillian 和 Timmy擔當導師的角色，教導九個來自寧波公學的中學生如何編寫Facebook 應用程式。學生的進度十分理想，他們不到兩小時便能掌握一些基本的程式編寫方法及技巧。隨後，他們更一起商討十一月十四日舉行的「叻Net老師」訓練課程之細節，COMP 會員和寧波公學的學生均十分期待此活動的來臨。

各位同學 :

大家好，我們是電子計算學系的社會服務實踐團(Community Outreach Merit Program，簡稱COMP)。我們這團隊的目的是讓同學能多參與社區服務，從而能提升個人能力及回饋社會。
為了讓同學更了解我們COMP的目標、組織、活動及計劃，我們將在9月17日下午5時至6 時於P307舉辦歡迎小聚，期待你的參與。屆時，我們將有豐富的活動環節，例如一些之前參與COMP的同學分享加入我們團隊後的心得，以及我們過往活動的海報展覽。除此之外，我們亦會簡介今年COMP將舉辦的活動，這些活動包括 :

1) 電腦培訓課程(匡智兒童, 南亞或非洲等難民)
2) 甘肅愛心小學遠程電腦教學
3) 協辦Lego 機械人比賽
4) 中國遊學團
以及更多精彩的活動!

除了以上的活動外，來年我們將舉辦更多更有趣的活動及計劃。

Dear All,

You may have heard of the Community Outreach Merit Program, or COMP, that is organized by our department to encourage community service projects among our students. Well, the COMP WelcomeGathering is coming up on September 17 in P307 from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. This meeting will be a great opportunity for you all to get to know what we’re doing in this program.

On that day, we will have a bunch of activities. Former COMP participants will share their experience from participating in our projects, and we will also have a poster exhibition of our past events. We will also give you some details of the events that we’re going to be organizing this year. A short list of these events are:

1) IT Activities for Special Needs Children and Refugee Children
2) Lego Robot Competition organization
3) Video Conference IT Traninig for Gansu’s Students
4) China Service Learning Trips
and lots more!

This is just the first of our fun monthly activities. We will be organizing some more fun events in the coming year. So come to this first one and let us get to know you!

由於教育局對於幼稚園、幼稚園暨幼兒中心、小學及特殊學校於復活節假期的特別安排，COMP有關活動的最新消息如下：

1) 原定於3月20-22日舉行之[COMP0320]尋求庇護青年香港文化體驗營將延至4月5日及4月19日舉行。
2) 原定於3月29日舉行之[COMP0329]匡智兒童之家IT工作坊及香港動植物公園參觀將延至5月24或31日舉行，確實日期將於四月底公佈。
3) 喇沙小學週末IT興趣班第12-14課亦會順延至4月12日、4月19日及4月26日舉行。

4) 聖羅撒學校週末IT興趣班第13-14課改期至4月12日及4月19日舉行。

[COMP0405] 尋求庇護青年香港文化體驗營

對象：
主要從南亞及非洲，因戰亂、政治及宗教因素而來港尋求庇護的人士，他們由於不能透過工作賺取生活費，故基本生活未能得到充分保障。
日期：2008年4月5日(六) 及 4月19日(六)
時間：10:00-17:00
義工人數：6人
活動：
我們希望透過一連串輕鬆的工作坊、參觀、集體遊戲、戶外活動等，讓所有參加者暫時忘記自己的身分，一同認識香港文化，並學會以資訊科技表達自己想法，建立友誼及增進對彼此的了解。

Day 1 (理工大學+戶外活動): 攝影遊戲工作坊 + 參觀科學館
Day 2 (理工大學): 相片漫畫工作坊 + 集體遊戲 + 作品匯報及小組分享

註：本活動主要以英語為主要溝通語言。

The [COMP0320] Easter Camp for Asylum Seekers, originally scheduled for late March has been postponed to April 5 and 19. We would like to take this opportunity to invite the persons who are confident, responsible and caring to participate in the event. The details of the event are as follows:

[COMP0405] Hong Kong Culture Experience Camp for Asylum Seekers

Target：
Asylum seekers

- The asylum seekers refer to those who seek for refuge, especially political asylum, in a foreign country. Most of these persons are fear to be persecuted in their home countries for reasons of religion, race, nationality or political opinion. In Hong Kong, most of the asylum seekers are South Asian and African. Owing to the refuge law in Hong Kong, they are not allowed to work until they become a Hong Kong residence, therefore, there is no guarantee in their livings. Regarding to this fact, I hereby, to invite you to join our event to give support to those asylum seekers.

Date: 5 April (Sat) & 19 April (Sat)
Time: 10:00-17:00
No. of Volunteers: 6

Activities：
Through a series of relaxing workshop, visits, team games and outdoor activities, we hope participants enjoy exploring the culture of Hong Kong regardless of their identities. Also, they can try expressing their ideas by using the information technologies, which fosters communications and friendship development.

Day 1 (PolyU+ Outdoor Activities):IT Training(Photo Taking & Editing) + Visiting the Hong Kong Science Museum

Day 2 (PolyU):Making Digital Comics + Group Activates + Digital Comics Presentation

About
The Department has collaborated with Kowloon West Youth-Care Committee (KWYCC) and Hong Kong Police Force Regional Crime Prevention Office (Kowloon West Region) for several years. On this coming Sunday (27 Jan), there will be a Beat Crime Carnival which aims to promote anti-drug message. Moreover, the opening ceremony of the Department’s new project “Drug Abuse Resistant Teens (DART)” will be held at the venue as well.

There will be some booth games, performances and competitions. Our Department will perform “Lion Dance”… by our NXT and RCX robots!!
